Frequently Asked Questions

Our pools and landscaping services are currently only available for Wisdom Homes customers.

A concrete pool is a solid structure built into an excavated hole in the ground. Supported by a web, or frame, of steel, the concrete is sprayed on creating the solid pool shell.

  • A concrete pool offers complete design flexibility so you can customise the whole pool including the shape, size, tiling, materials and colour. This means the price for the pool can vary so speak to one of our consultants and get a quote.
  • Concrete pools can last longer with regular maintenance, cleansing and resurfacing.
  • Concrete pools can re-designed to incorporate extra features like water features, extra walls, steps and customised spas.
  • Concrete pools can increase the resale value of your home.
  • Because of the process involved, concrete pools take longer to build. The project, land and materials will also factor into the time.
  • Concrete pools may incur higher maintenance costs than a fibreglass pool.

Whether you build a concrete or fibreglass pool depends largely on size - the size and dimensions of your plot and the size of a pre-constructed shell that has to be delivered by road.

Here are the pros and cons of both pool types to help you with your decision:

Concrete

  • With a concrete pool there is complete design flexibility meaning you can customise the whole pool including the shape, size, tiling, materials and colour. This means the price for the pool can vary, so it’s best to speak to one of our consultants and get a quote.
  • Concrete pools are durable and can last longer with regular maintenance, cleansing and resurfacing.
  • Concrete pools can more easily accommodate extra features like water features, extra walls, steps and customised spas.
  • Concrete pools can increase the resale value of your home.
  • Concrete pools take longer to build depending on the project, land and materials chosen.
  • Concrete pools can incur higher maintenance costs than a fibreglass pool.

Fibreglass

  • Fibreglass pools are generally cheaper to build than concrete as they are pre-built shells that are lifted into a hole in the ground.
  • Fibreglass pools do come in a range of shapes, sizes and colours but these are fixed you can’t change the design.
  • Fibreglass pools have a shorter installation period.
  • The smooth interior surface of a fibreglass pool is easy to clean and gentle underfoot.
  • A fibreglass pool heats up quicker and retains heat longer.
  • There is a maximum depth of 2-4 ft.

A concrete pool offers flexibility of design allowing for different block sizes and customer needs like in-pool seating. In addition they’re incredibly strong and durable and because they can be finished in a variety of surfaces, they’re very appealing to look at.

First the ground is excavated and then the steel and formwork is constructed, followed by the plumbing elements. Concrete is then sprayed on, allowed to ‘cure’ and the pool interior is finished. The build time is specific to each individual project but in general the process takes 3-4 months. Speak to our team for a quote and estimated project timeline.

A concrete pool will be good for more than 25 years. However, concrete pools require regular maintenance to ensure longevity.

The costs of building a swimming pool will vary depending on the individual project elements and customer requirements but on average starting from $65,000.

At Wisdom Pools and Landscapes we take care of the approvals for you. A Complying Development Certificate (CDC) or a Development Application (DA) is required before you start construction of a concrete pool. You don’t need your neighbour’s permission, but it’s always good to keep them informed of your plans especially if there’ll be disruption or you need additional access. With over a decade of experience in building concrete pools in Sydney, we have the expertise to guide you through the whole process.

This depends on exactly how much space you have. Our pool consultations are conducted at your home so we can give you the most accurate information about how a pool can be customised and fit into your space. There are legal requirements about boundary areas so they will need to be factored in.

Absolutely. We can integrate a spa into you concrete pool design, just speak to one of our team members.
